Alumni
Since our doors opened on September 23, 1946, the UNC Charlotte alumni community has grown to more than 75,000 living members with approximately 4,500 added each year. Because UNC Charlotte is a young university, you may not realize how accomplished our alumni have become in a short amount of time. For instance, Brett Keeter is currently the Regional Director of the Office of U.S. Congressman Patrick McHenry. While a student, Brett worked on the campaign staff of Cogresswoman Sue Myrick and was a volunteer youth coordinator for Senator Jesse Helms’ 1996 campaign.
Kelley Earnhardt Elledge, Class of 1995 and Vice President/General Manager of JR Motorsports.
Maybe you want to follow in the footsteps of Bo Pittman who was instrumental in the implementation of WFAE-FM, the National Public Radio station for UNC Charlotte. He then went on to found Business Development Concepts and 360° Sports Marketing. After selling those companies, Bo served as Director of Event Marketing for Roush Racing which is the largest racing organization in NASCAR. Bo also made a name for himself while a student as he was known as “Norm the Niner” for our athletic events.

While the list is too long to detail, Suzanne Hill Freeman, President of Carolinas Medical Center; Joe Price, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Bank of America; and Mark Colone, Vice President of Signature Sports Group all call UNC Charlotte their alma mater.
Within the Charlotte Business Journals’ “40 under 40”, 6 alumni who are making major strides in their careers and impacting their communities are UNC Charlotte graduates. Whether they’re managing large, financial operations or fine-tuning a NASCAR Nextel Cup car, our alumni are contributing to the community while enjoying successful careers doing what they love. |
